BiographyBritish born baritone Todd Delaney made his professional debut at the age of 23 as Dandini in Rossini’s LA CENORENTOLA. At this time, Opera Canada magazine praised his performance saying: “Todd Delaney, making his professional operatic debut, played an excellent Dandini, with an over the top portrayal that delighted the audience. If this is any indication of things to come, opera-lovers are in for a real treat in the future.” Since his debut, Mr. Delaney has had the opportunity to perform across North America in both opera and concert settings with great success. He has been highly praised by critics, not only for his vocal ability, but also for his natural acting style. As a young baritone, he traveled to the Czech Republic on several occasions to perform Papageno in Mozart’s DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Valentin in Gounod’s FAUST, and Lescaut in Massenet’s MANON at the Severočeské Divadlo, Usti nad Labem. Between 2007 and 2010 Mr. Delaney’s schedule was entirely devoted to concert work while touring the United States and Canada with opera-crossover group Romanza. The mandate of the group was to make opera accessible to a wider audience. In the space of three years the trio performed over two hundred concerts and were given rave reviews across the continent. This season Mr. Delaney has been fortunate to add three new roles to his repertoire: Ramiro in Ravel’s L’HEURE ESPAGNOLE, Morales in Bizet’s CARMEN and Ford in Verdi’s FALSTAFF. As he continues to add to his repertoire, Mr. Delaney constantly challenges himself to remain a diverse and well-rounded performer on the operatic stage. January 2012
