Hailed as a “promising young conductor” by Christophe Huss (Le Devoir), Francis Choinière is a versatile musician, conductor, composer, and concert producer. In 2024, he conducted in North America's most prestigious venues, including Verizon Hall in Philadelphia, Symphony House in Boston, and Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. In the coming season, Francis Choinière will once again conduct nearly 75 concerts in some twenty different concert halls in Canada and the United States.
Winner of the prestigious Prix Goyer Mécénat Musica 2023 and the Christa and Franz-Paul Decker Conducting Fellowship from the Hnatyshyn Foundation, Francis Choinière has collaborated with some of the world's greatest artists, including Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Patrick Watson, Ramin Djawadi, Hans Zimmer, Ute Lemper, Patrick Bruel, and Mario Pelchat.
Francis Choinière is Artistic Director and Conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique et Chœur des Mélomanes (OPCM), successfully programming both choral and symphonic masterpieces for the organization. He is also Principal Conductor and Co-Artistic Director of the FILMharmonique Orchestra. As co-founder and president of GFN Productions, he is committed to expanding and developing classical music audiences by presenting new symphonic programs accompanied by films, including Fantasia, Star Wars, Titanic, and The Lord of the Rings.
Francis Choinière has also participated in a number of album and film soundtrack recordings, including Vivaldi and Piazzolla's Four Seasons, François Dompierre's Requiem, Phonèmes (François Dompierre), Arise (CLANN), Noël à l'Opéra (LYRICO), and Hidden Assets (Michel Corriveau).
Francis Choinière completed his master's degree in orchestral conducting at McGill University, under the direction of Alexis Hauser. He perfected his conducting skills in masterclasses with renowned conductors such as François Xavier Roth, Yoav Talmi, and Colin Metters
