GEORGIA BURASHKO - 23/24 DUTCH CLASSICAL TALENT ARTIST

Mezzo soprano Georgia Burashko has won a coveted spot as a 23/24 Dutch Classical Talent artist, winning their Tour and Award category.

Georgia’s DCT tour takes her across the Netherlands, from March to April 2024, presenting an eclectic program of Purcell, Handel, Vaughn Williams, Karmit, Faedel, Danika Loren, and Dolly Parton, among others.

DEAN ARTISTS PREMIERE POMEGRANATE WITH THE CANADIAN OPERA COMPANY

Dean Artists Adanya Dunn (Suli/Suzie), Peter Barrett (Marcus/Uncle Salvatore), and Teiya Kasahara 笠原貞野 (Priestess/Jules) star in the world premiere of Marshall and Hale’s Pomegranate, opening at the Canadian Opera Company for a sold-out, limited run.

Conductor Rosemary Thomson, making her company debut, leads, with direction by Jennifer Tarver.

Special nod to mezzo soprano Simona Genga, who covers Livia/Suzie’s Mother.

2023 DORA MAVOR MOORE AWARDS

Congratulations to the 2023 Dora Mavor Moore Nominees!

We highlight the following Dean Artists involved in the productions nominated this year:
- Baritone Justin Welsh, nominated for Best Ensemble for Tapestry Opera's Of the Sea.

- Director Anna Theodosakis who served as both assistant and associate director respectively on two productions nominated for Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Production - Canadian Opera Company's Marriage of Figaro and Against the Grain's Bluebeard's Castle.

- Director Dana Fradkin who assisted on Canadian Opera Company's Flying Dutchman, also nominated for Outstanding Direction and Production.

- Canadian Opera Company's Marriage of Figaro, nominated for Outstanding Production, featuring Dean Artists Megan Latham (Marcellina) and Michael Colvin (Don Basilio).
- Canadian Opera Company's Macbeth, nominated for Outstanding Production, featuring Dean Artists Tracy Cantin (Lady in Waiting/Lady Macbeth), Adam Luther (Malcolm), and Vartan Gabrielian (Doctor).
- Canadian Opera Company's Salome, nominated for outstanding Production, featuring Dean Artists Owen McCausland (First Jew), Michael Colvin (Second Jew), Adam Luther (Fourth Jew), and Vartan Gabrielian (First Soldier).
