WE ARE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME CANADIAN SOPRANO SARAH DUFRESNE TO THE DEAN ARTISTS MANAGEMENT ROSTER!

Raised in beautiful Niagara Falls, and currently based in Montreal, Canadian soprano Sarah Dufresne is known for her clarity of tone, rapid coloratura, and diverse repertoire. She is currently a second-year resident artist at the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal.

Recently praised for her vocal technique and ease on the stage, Sarah’s 2021/2022 season includes various concert performances with the l’Atelier lyrique, appearing as Messiah soloist for Chorus Niagara, and covering various roles at l’Opéra de Montréal through her resident artist position. This past October, she appeared as Nora in Opéra de Montréal’s season opening production of Vaughn-William’s Riders to the Sea.

Her varied repertoire includes Tytania in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mrs. Fiorentino in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, Galatea in Handel’s Acis and Galatea, and Servilia in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito. Recently, in collaboration with Against the Grain Theater and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Sarah premiered the role of Rebecca Marshall in their production of Nicole Lizée’s No One’s Safe, a conceptual and immersive murder mystery opera.

DEAN ARTISTS MANAGEMENT WELCOMES SYDNEY BAEDKE (SOPRANO)

We are delighted to welcome Canadian soprano Sydney Baedke to the Dean Artists Management roster!

Described as a "rising star to watch" by Opera Canada, soprano Sydney Baedke was recently named one of Canada’s top emerging musicians under 30 by the CBC (2021). Sydney made her professional debut in 2019 as La Fortuna & Valletto in Tim Albery’s critically acclaimed production of Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, where she also covered Gilda in Rigoletto as a member of the Gerdine Young Artist Program.

She recently spent the 2021 summer season as a member of the renowned Apprentice Program for Singers at the Santa Fe Opera, where she covered Tatyana in Eugene Onegin and appeared as Antonia in an excerpt from Les Contes d’Hoffmann in the annual Apprentice Scenes Showcase. This past season also saw Sydney star in the title role of Brott Opera’s 2021 digital, abridged production of Estacio's iconic Canadian opera, Filumena.

Sydney is a Regional Finalist & three-time prize winner at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and recently performed on the stage of the Civic Opera House as a finalist at the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Centre Auditions. Sydney holds degrees in opera & voice performance from Rice University and the University of Toronto.

Dean Artists’ Theo Lebow appears in Oper Frankfurt’s new production of Cimarosa’s L’Italiana in Londra.

Premiered Sept. 26th and runs until November as a part of their 2021/2022 season.

MCHARDY AND NÚÑEZ WITH OPÉRA DE MONTRÉAL

Dean Artists’ Allyson McHardy and Andrea Núñez are featured in Opéra de Montréal’s double bill of Vaughn Williams' Riders to the Sea and the premiere of Le Flambeau de la nuit by composer Hubert Tanguy-Labrosse and librettist Olivier Kemeid.

McHardy is appearing as Maurya in Riders and La Nochere in Flambeau, while Núñez is appearing as Chantelle in Riders and "A Passenger” in Flambeau.

Performances are happening September 25th (7:30) and 26th (2:00) for a limited audience in Montreal.
