WE ARE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME BASS-BARITONE ALEX HALLIDAY TO THE DEAN ARTISTS MANAGEMENT ROSTER!
Bass-baritone Alex Halliday is praised for “a voice that is both powerful and expressive” (SesayArts Magazine).
This past season Alex completed his final year as a member of the Canadian Opera Company's Ensemble where he was seen on stage in the roles of Jailer in Puccini’s Tosca, Servant in Verdi's Macbeth, Morales in Bizet’s Carmen, both Cappadocian and a jump in performance Second Nazarene in Strauss’ Salome, along with various cover assignments for the 2022/2023 season. Other notable assignments at the COC include Guccio in Gianni Schicchi (2021) and Noah in the 2022 world premiere of Fantasma by Ian Cusson and Colleen Murphy. Alex looks forward to returning to the COC for the 2023/2024 season in several assignments.
Alex is quickly making his mark across Canada in not only opera, but on the concert stage. He most recently had the pleasure of performing as the bass soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Durham Youth Orchestra, and the Peterborough Singers for their 2022 holiday seasons. Also in concert, Alex had the pleasure of performing Coline in Puccini’s La bohème with Orchestre Philharmonique et Choeur des Mélomanes at Montréal’s Maison Symphonique.

Vancouver soprano Leila Kirves is a quickly rising emerging voice, making her mark as a “colorful and charismatic” (Opera Canada) performer. This season, Leila joined the prestigious Gerdine Young Artist Program at the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, where she covered the title role of Puccini’s Tosca.
Leila’s recent operatic credits have included First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Giulietta in Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Anna-Liese Franz in the Canadian premier of Mieczysław Weinberg's The Passenger, the Countess in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, The Secretary in Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Consul, and the Foreign Princess in Dvořák’s Rusalka.

WE ARE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME DIRECTOR & CHOREOGRAPHER JENNIFER NICHOLS TO THE DEAN ARTISTS MANAGEMENT ROSTER!
Jennifer Nichols is a Canadian dancer, choreographer and director with over 20 years of professional stage and film experience. She is founder of the renowned ballet fitness program, the Extension Method™, owner of the Extension Room and Co-Artistic Director of the dance entertainment firm Hit & Run Dance Productions.
For stage, Jennifer holds extensive choreography, performance, and direction credits in opera, operetta, art song, and more. Highlights include the Dora-award winning choreographed production of Handel’s Messiah with Against the Grain Theatre; Dora-award nominated production of Glaser’s Pandora with FAWN Chamber Creative, and Opera5’s immersive production of Strauss’ Die Fledermaus. She has presented her choreography of Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins, directed by Joel Ivany, with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Oregon Summer Music Festival, and a workshop at the Banff Centre for the Creative Arts, also appearing as the principal dancer.
She has choreographed, designed, and directed for Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra (Haus Musik), the Royal Conservatory of Music/Glenn Gould School (Offenbach’s La Belle Helene), and Toronto Summer Music Festival (L’Histoire du Soldat). Other works she has interpreted includes La Traviata, West Side Story, and Salome, as well as curating interdisciplinary performances for the Art Gallery of Ontario, LightHouse Immersive, and In.Set.
Through her work, she has helmed several world premieres, including Harman’s Sewing the Earthworm (Canadian Art Song Project), Rickett’s Lilt (Esprit Orchestra), and Palmer’s Sweat with the Bicycle Opera Project, whose feature-length film of the work, directed by Jennifer, premiered earlier this year.

GEORGIA BURASHKO - 23/24 DUTCH CLASSICAL TALENT ARTIST
Mezzo soprano Georgia Burashko has won a coveted spot as a 23/24 Dutch Classical Talent artist, winning their Tour and Award category.
Georgia’s DCT tour takes her across the Netherlands, from March to April 2024, presenting an eclectic program of Purcell, Handel, Vaughn Williams, Karmit, Faedel, Danika Loren, and Dolly Parton, among others.
